Weekly Market Update #2

The big budget event of last week turned out to be a non-event (save as the mistaken early release of budget intel) and not worth leaving so late. But again, did little in the push for growth.

It is worth noting though that UK GDP has grown by 1.3% in the last year. The same as the Eurozone and higher than both France and Germany (0.9 & 0.3%) (source GDP international comparisons: Economic indicators - House of Commons Library), so there are positives in the economy!

Enquiry levels for Business Space are still good and some of the latest requirements include:

  • 5 - 6,000 sq.ft within 10 miles of St Albans for storage of building materials & plant (low impact use).

  • C1,000 sq.ft for sorting & packing crisps. Within 15 miles of Barnet. A start up business, but the product looks great!

  • 2,000 sq.ft yard for small family scaffold company. C5 miles from Hertford.

Last weeks enquiry rates and sentiment level:

  • Average of 2 enquiries a day - more than expected considering how the budget effects perspective.

  • Sentiment level - reasonable. Good considering the budget and now the run in to Christmas!

Recent letting/re-letting of note:

  • Division of 11,000 sq.ft building into 3 smaller units & now fully let.

If you have any space that you think could suit the requirements above, or just to find out more, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
